Ukraine crisis: “No more words, time to act,” – Cezary Kulesza

Poland will boycott their World Cup play-off against Russia because of the invasion of Ukraine, with Polish football association president Cezary Kulesza saying the team “does not intend” to play the game.

Mr. Cezary Kulesza believes this is not the time for words and that it is time to act.

“No more words, time to act,” tweeted Kulesza on Saturday.

The national team captain, Robert Lewandowski took to the microblogging site to also air out his opinion on the matter saying, “we can’t pretend that nothing is happening”.

The Bayern Munich striker believes it is the right decision to boycott their World Cup play-off against Russia.

“The right decision,” he tweeted.

Russia are due to host Poland in Moscow on 24 March, while Ukraine travel to Scotland on the same day.

On Thursday, Fifa said it would monitor the situation after Poland, Sweden and the Czech Republic said in a joint statement that play-off matches should not be played in Russia.
