Takoradi: Police arrest three for faking a kidnap, demanding a GH₵ 5,000 ransom

The Takoradi Divisional Command of the Ghana Police Service has arrested three persons for faking a kidnapping incident and demanding a ransom of GH₵ 5,000.

The three suspects, Joana Krah, 29, Susana Awortwe, 27 and Francis Eshun, 27 allegedly faked the kidnap of Joana and demanded a ransom of Five-Thousand Ghana Cedis (GH₵ 5,000.00) from her adopted father.

Per a statement released today October, 25, 2021 by the Police Service and signed by the Acting Director General of Public Affairs, ACP Kwesi Ofori, “suspect Joana Krah conspired with the other two suspects, Susan Awortwe and Francis Eshun, to feign her kidnapping on Friday, October 22, 2021, after which a call was placed to her adopted father in demand for the ransom”.

However, luck eluded them when Joana’s adopted father made a report to the police who then mounted an extensive search for her.

“The suspects will be processed for court today, Monday, October 25”.
