Shatta Wale, Medikal, three others to reappear in court today
Charles Nii Armah Mensh, popularly known as Shatta Wale and his three other accomplices will today, Tuesday, October 26, 2021, reappear in court.
The Dancehall act was arrested on October 19, 2021, after faking a gunshot attack on him and charged with the publication of false news and causing fear and panic. He has, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.
His three accomplices, Kojo Owusu Koranteng, Idris Yusif, and Eric Venator have also been charged for abetment of crime.
The four were each given a one-week remand by an Accra Circuit Court on Thursday, October 21, 2021.
Hiplife artiste, Samuel Frimpong, popularly known as Medikal, is also expected to reappear in court today after five days on remand for brandishing a weapon in a video shared on social media.
He was remanded by a Circuit Court judge in Accra on October 22, 2021 after being charged with the display of arms and ammunition to which he has pleaded not guilty.
At the hearing on Friday, October 22, 2021, counsel for the Ghanaian rapper, Emmanuel Yeboah Gyan, prayed the court to grant his client bail as he is a law-abiding citizen and had family on standby to meet the bail conditions.
But the prosecution opposed the plea, arguing that the individual rights of Medikal to bail are subservient to the community interest, which ought to be protected.
He further argued that parts of the case are still under investigation.
The court agreed with his argument and remanded the accused.
