GES sacks comedian, Teacher Kwadwo
Teacher Kwadwo, known in real life as Michael Owusu Afriyie, has been sacked by his employer, the Ghana Education Service (GES).
In a Facebook post made on Saturday December 18, 2021, the Ghanaian comedian and professional teacher wrote, “Okay, so for some “PROFESSIONAL” reasons I can’t post the content of the letter here but all that is in the letter is that, my District Education Office through Ghana Education Service says that, they have sacked me”.
He has however described as funny the reasons given for his dismissal.
“Their reasons are very funny”, he stated.
But he has served notice of his intention to fight the dismissal.
“This is going to be the 1st ever TEACHER vs GES fight in the history of Ghana Education. Y’all relax because it will be all over the news soon and y’all will know the head and tail of it. Ɛbɛyɛ butubutu”, he indicated.
Teacher Kwadwo is a fierce critic of the GES. He has continuously lambasted the national education management body for it poor handling of the sector while questioning the government’s commitment towards delivering quality education.
In a subsequent post, he disclosed that even though the letter was given to him yesterday, it was dated “27th October, 2021”.
“The SACKING letter that was given to me yesterday is dated “27th october 2021”. Abeg what was yesterday’s date? Meaning, they have typed the letter looooong time and was looking for an opportunity but since they don’t get it, they have given it to me like that. Wɔn atetɛ me akyɛ!”, he added.
