“Be humble and remember where you are coming from”, Savannah Regional minister to MMDCEs
Savannah Regional Minister, Mr. Saeed Muhazu Jibril has cautioned MMDCE nominees to be humble and remember where they are coming from as power is not perpetual and can be very tricky.
The list of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s choices of nominees for metropolitan, municipal and district assemblies (MMDCEs) across the country was released by the Minister for Local Government, Dan Botwe, yesterday at a minister’s press briefing.
Speaking at the press briefing, Hon. Dan Botwe said the list has been sent to the various regional ministers for the commencement of approval processes.
“They (Regional Ministers) are going to contact from tomorrow, Regional Directors of the Electoral Commission, get in touch with the Presiding Members of the various Assemblies and start the process of confirming Mr. President’s nominees,” he indicated.
Even before the nominees will go through the approval processes, several people have congratulated them.
One of such persons who has congratulated the nominees is Mr. Muhazu Jibril who chose to include in his congratulatory message, a word of advice for the nominees.
On his Facebook wall, Mr. Jibril posted a short video of late former president Jerry John Rawlings in military uniform addressing a gathering and wrote, “Who remembers this man? Power can trick people it can make you bigger than God. But remember it is not forever be humble you were just like the people on the streets as ordinary as they are and one day you will surely be back to them. Treat them as though you were not powerful. To the new MMDCES congratulations don’t forget where you are coming from.”
