2021 A-G’s report: Godfred Dame’s ministry pays ¢266K as judgment debt for accident involving ‘uninsured’ SUV
The Ministry of Justice and Attorney-General, according to the 2021 report of the Auditor-General, paid more than GH¢266,000 as judgment debt in connection with a road accident involving one of its uninsured vehicles.
The A-G’s report describes it as an “avoidable judgment debt”.
It quotes the exact figure as GH¢266,399.00 78.
“Our review showed that in November 2020, the ministry paid a judgment debt of GH¢266,399.00 as compensation in respect of a road accident involving the ministry’s uninsured Nissan Patrol vehicle”.
“We recommended that the Registrar and the Finance Director should take immediate steps to insure the ministry’s vehicles to avoid such liabilities”, the report recommended.
